GARDEN GROVE, CA – Carly Fiorina today announced her candidacy to serve the people of California as their next United States Senator. At a town hall meeting held at Earth Friendly Products in Garden Grove, she discussed her top priorities including job creation, economic recovery and restoring fiscal accountability in Washington, D.C.
“The decisions made in Washington impact every family and every business, of any size, in America. Throughout my career I’ve brought people together and solved problems and that is what I plan to do in government – set aside ego and partisanship and work to develop solutions to our problems,” said Fiorina. “My top priorities in the Senate will be economic recovery and fiscal accountability. I will not settle for a jobless recovery and we must start the important work of getting our financial house back in order. Washington must show discipline to cut spending and create policies that encourage and empower businesses and put people back to work.”
While she is perhaps best known as the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard Company (HP), what is not as well known is Carly worked her way through undergraduate and graduate school. A self-made woman, she started her business career as a secretary and went on to become the first, and to date, the only woman to lead a Fortune 20 company.
