VERNON, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today led a roundtable meeting with small-business owners at a family-owned poultry company in Vernon. Their conversation focused on the challenges facing small companies, especially in the food industry, trying to weather these difficult economic times.
“It is always important to support our nation’s small businesses. They are the engines that drive our economy. And given these tough economic times, it’s all the more critical to help them grow and succeed,” said Fiorina. “Today’s discussion offered important on-the-ground insight about what our representatives in Washington should be doing to help these innovators do what they do best: create jobs and spur the economy.”
Since officially declaring her candidacy for U.S. Senate last fall, Fiorina has made it her priority to hear directly from Californians about their concerns and discuss strategies to address the challenges facing their families and businesses. In addition to today’s meeting, Fiorina has held roundtable discussions in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Pleasanton, San Diego, Modesto and Salinas.
“For 18 years, Barbara Boxer has championed policies that stifle innovation and hurt small businesses. This slows our economic recovery, and it’s the wrong direction for our state,” added Fiorina. “California’s family-owned businesses deserve a representative who will stand up for them in Washington. As a U.S. Senator, I will champion policies that support our nation’s job creators and put us on the path toward economic growth.”
