LONG BEACH, CA – During a press conference at SnugTop, one of the last manufacturers still in business in the Long Beach area, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the California Manufacturers and Technology Association (CMTA) and the California Chamber of Commerce today joined U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina in rejecting Barbara Boxer’s 28 years of failing to stand up for job creators across the nation, as well as in highlighting Fiorina’s plan to create jobs and grow the economy by lowering taxes, fighting for every job and incentivizing innovation. Today’s stop kicks off a two-day statewide tour during which job creators will call on the people of California to replace Barbara Boxer this November.
“For 28 long years, Barbara Boxer has failed to fight for jobs, failed to fight for policies that spur economic growth and failed to fight for American companies. Today we are rejecting Boxer’s nearly three decades of failed leadership and antagonism toward California’s businesses,” said U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President and National Political Director Bill Miller. “Carly Fiorina, on the other hand, understands firsthand the challenges companies face every day and will fight for the policies in Washington we need so our companies can compete in the global marketplace and so our economy can recover, grow and flourish. That’s the reason we are endorsing Carly Fiorina for U.S. Senate.”
Founded in 1912, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce today represents more than 3 million businesses and organizations across the United States in pushing for free enterprise, individual freedom and opportunity through national advertising, grassroots advocacy, citizen engagement and research. The Chamber’s goal is to help elect a pro-business Congress and advance legislation that furthers its policy objectives.
“During her nearly three decades in Washington, Barbara Boxer has made it increasingly difficult for manufacturers to do business in the United States by championing higher and higher taxes and stiffer and stiffer regulations. The path down which Boxer has driven our nation is littered with companies that have suffered as a result of these job-killing policies; that’s the reason we’re today charting a new course by endorsing Carly Fiorina for U.S. Senate,” said CMTA President Jack Stewart. “As a U.S. senator, Carly will advance policies that encourage economic growth, job creation and a less intrusive federal government in order to foster a business environment in which manufacturers and all California companies can thrive.”
CMTA’s mission is to improve and enhance a strong business climate for California’s 30,000 manufacturing, processing and technology-based companies. Since 1918, CMTA has worked with state government to develop balanced laws, effective regulations and sound public policies to stimulate economic growth and create new jobs while safeguarding the state’s environmental resources. CMTA represents businesses from the entire manufacturing community – an economic sector that generates more than $250 billion every year and employs more than 1.2 million Californians.
“Carly Fiorina is the pro-business candidate for U.S. Senate. When jobs and the economy are the primary focus of all Californians, we would be well served to have a U.S. senator who has created private-sector jobs, has had to balance budgets and knows how unnecessary government regulation can stifle investment,” said California Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Allan Zaremberg. “Carly is a proven leader who will bring common-sense solutions to an out-of-touch political process in Washington.”
Tracing its roots back to the California State Board of Trade’s establishment in 1890, CalChamber works to make California a better place to do business by giving private-sector employers a voice in state politics and by providing a full range of California-specific products and services. The organization now serves as an advocate for some 15,000 job creators and works to enhance the California economy by making it a better place to live, work and do business.
“I am honored to have the support of these job creators and their members behind my campaign, and I look forward to fighting with them to implement policies that spur job creation and economic growth in California and around the United States,” said Fiorina. “Under the leadership of career politicians like Barbara Boxer, we have made it harder – not easier – for companies to grow, succeed and hire Americans. That’s a record of failure we reject today. If we are serious about growing our economy and creating jobs, then we must send new leadership to the U.S. Senate, and that begins by replacing Barbara Boxer this November.”
Fiorina’s economic growth plan focuses on unleashing the talents and energies of California’s workers, small-business owners, innovators and entrepreneurs by getting government out of the way and reducing uncertainty that is inevitably caused by intrusive and over-reaching government regulatory policies. Fiorina today also earned the endorsement of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.
